I Feel A New Season Coming…

I love everything there is about fall and it is the season upon us.  For this moment I am going to enjoy and embrace everything about it.  I love the crisp cool mornings, I love the leaves in the trees turning vibrant colors of yellow, orange, and maroon.  I love pumpkin…I think I love pumpkin everything!  I love it in coffee creamer, cakes, pies and even my wall plug-ins.  I love the first time the heater kicks on in the house and there is a strange smell in the air.  I love putting on a big sweatshirt and sweat pants but still needing to grab and extra fuzzy blanket to wrap up in.  I love how bugs diminish and you can leave your windows open to let the fresh air in.  Okay, well you get the idea and I am sure that there are many of you that are sitting here thinking how much you love those things as well.  Perhaps you even added a few items to my list.

I remember as a kid growing up in Oklahoma we would rake big piles of leaves and jump in them.  I no longer would do this as now I am an adult and realize how many yucky, scary bugs are lurking in those leaves.  I hate how we lose our sense of childhood wonder.  I wish years of life hadn’t sucked it out of me.  I daydream about being a throw caution to the wind sort of gal. I calculate and sometimes over calculate the risks and outcomes to doing certain things, even fun things!    For now, though, I need to find that sense of wonder in the season I am in even concerning the seasons of life.  Everything changes and nothing stays the same.  God does not want us staying the same.  He wants us to grow and change and to become who He created us to be to fulfill His purpose in our lives.  In some seasons of life, we reap such wonderful benefits but we have seasons that seem to be dark and heartache after heartache unfold.  I think a large key for myself is learning to see the small things and enjoy them.  Today I heard a speaker and he was talking about how God does not merely put up with us or tolerate us but he enjoys us!   We need to enjoy our family, our children and our lives.  It really changes your perspective when you think about how to enjoy things.

In the book of Daniel the 2nd chapter, Daniel was praying that the Lord would help him understand a dream that King Nebuchadnezzar had.  God revealed something to Daniel then that still holds true for us today.  Daniel 2:21 says;  He changes the times and seasons of the year.  He takes away the power of kings and gives their power to new kings.  He gives wisdom to those who are wise and knowledge to those who understand.  In order to be wise and have knowledge, you must spend time with God in his word.  Take some time to read the book of Daniel it tells an amazing story.  In a day and season when life seems to have more questions than answers, know that God does have it under control.  We may be overwhelmed with what is going on in our world but it is no secret to Him. Don’t become so heavy hearted over our election, and everything you see and hear on the news or read on social media that you lose your sense of wonder in the small things all around you.

We need to stay focused on the creator and sometimes that is easiest to do when looking at the created.  Everything I love about fall God made or made someone that made it!  That is so awesome.  I love watching my grandkids and how excited they become over bugs, plants, clouds, rocks and even sticks sometimes.  Don’t let the doubts and worry keep you stuck.  We need to push through and move forward to the next season.  God will give you all the grace you need to get where you need to go.  It may not be in a way you would have picked but remember He always knows what is best for us.  Don’t worry if your season you are currently in is less than desirable a new one will be quickly approaching.

Until Next Time…
