Jesus, Coffee, & Lucky Charms…

The last several nights I have slept terribly.  I have no idea why as I usually sleep great.  I often wake due to one on one prayer time with God and no distractions but this was different, this was just crazy restlessness.  All that said, last night I finally had a good nights sleep.  I woke this morning feeling rested and clear-headed.  It was a beautiful morning, I opened the doors and let the breeze blow through, poured a cup of coffee (which is my morning happiness in a cup), and grabbed God’s word.  After a few quiet moments as my house was all still sleeping soundly, I walked to the kitchen to grab some breakfast.  I had every good intention of eating a bowl of oatmeal, a piece of toast or even an egg.  Then I saw it the big, beautiful box of my all time favorite cereal from as far back as I could remember…Lucky Charms.

I recall when I started having children I was only going to buy them “healthy” cereal, I quickly banished that idea and did my motherly duty of introducing them to the deliciousness at a young age, as I have my grandchildren as well.  Go ahead and judge me, I can take it.  If you are that super awesome parent that did not give your kids any of that garbage then hats off to you.  If you were the parent that has done as I have well, in the grand scope of things it will not keep them from Jesus or Heaven so let it go, no more mom guilt.

I love Lucky Charms so much that a few years back my husband got up early on our anniversary and picked all the marshmallows out and had it waiting at the kitchen table in a bowl, with a cup of happiness and a beautiful card.  That my friends is true love.  I do need to express though in case you are wondering you can have too much of a good thing.  An entire bowl of marshmallows was a tad much.  However, It would be nice if they swapped the number of healthy pieces with the number of marshmallows.  I do believe it would be a better balance.

Love and dedication…

To get back to my point of today’s writings, I was having my quiet time with Jesus this morning and He used my bowl of Lucky Charms to show me things that reflect him.  He showed me the hearts and how much he loves us.  He loves me enough that he gave me Lucky Charms, but more than that he loved me enough to die for me.  He showed me the stars reminding me that He is the creator of the universe!  He put each and every star in place.  He showed me the moon, he is the one that gives us night so we can rest but then He brings us morning where we get a brand new day!  He gives us rainbows, as a promise.  He promises to always take care of us, no matter what.  He showed me the hour glass and reminded me that time is not only precious but it is short.  What we do with the amount of time we are given is important and it does make a difference.  He showed me the balloon, which was a reminder for me to have fun and to always release joy to all around me.  He also reminded me the clover represents the father, son and holy spirit.  Lastly, I looked at the horseshoe.  I thought God, what in the world can you give me about the horseshoe?  I personally don’t see anything holy about the representation of the horseshoe.  In its original state, it protects horses hoofs but we have made it something else.  A “lucky charm”, you have taught me not to look to earthly things or to ever rely on lucky charms.  Then God showed me, the world is full of hurting people that look to and dabble in things of this earth to give them peace and answers they are looking for.  Things of this world suck them in and they begin believing lies.

As you see my morning was amazing.  God showed me in a very real and tangible way that God just wants me to keep it real.  I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not.  Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding.  Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success.  God wants to reveal Himself to you, I know for myself sometimes I make it so hard and so complicated.  He can even use a bowl of Lucky Charms!  Now, for you haters of sugary sweet terrible for you cereal you have been shown how God can even use that nastiness.  Don’t ever stop listening to God, and when you think He isn’t talking perhaps it is because you are not giving Him an opportunity.

Until Next Time…
